Saturday Night

So I don't know what happened to me, but I recently got obsessed with sewing, quilts, fabric, and handmade junk.... I found this website: etsy.com where you can find all sorts of handmade things around the world. I basically just spent the last three hours looking up all different things that I would LOVE to buy myself but can't justify and I thought I would share them with you.

First, this adorable onesie by rainbowswirlz

and that got me searching for some more really cute onesies so I found this one from urchanuprising

And if you can't tell I'm on a total skulls kick and I saw this scarf that totally reminded me of my sister by rainbowswirlz again:

And last but not least I found these SWEET belt buckles and necklaces from bykali that I love.

This is one of her(?) necklaces but she has some really cool belt buckles too. Basically everyone should check out etsy.com and find really cute handmade and original things to buy. I found a lot of fantastic jewelry but I'm far too tired to cut and paste that many items.

Thanks for reading...

*** and by the way... blogger.com is REALLY irritating..

Friday Night:

I really don't even know how we have clothes to wear at this point. Our laundry has gotten a little out of hand... And the best part is? We still have a ton of shirts left in the closet that we could pull from. Ryan admitted we have a problem and agreed to finally DI some of his stuff. I on the other hand, can't seem to let go of some of my 'skinny' shirts in the hope that one day I will finally fit in to them again.

And I lost the cord to my other camera and now don't have the ability to transfer my pictures from Boston (lame). So we had a ton of fun, but you don't get to see the evidence!

I did it!!!

Okay, I didn't really. But at least I know what I would look like if I decided too.

And now I know that I would look REALLY hot if I did this!

Thanks to taaz.com for the free virtual makeover!!

This is what happens....

When you are supposed to be studying, but you have a REALLY short attention span....

Story: Ryan and I went to St. George with some people last weekend for my birthday and apparently when someone turns 26, they also decide they want to be really girly from then on. Amy, Wendi and I went to Sephora while down in Las Vegas and I discovered that I wanted to take make up more seriously, or at least start doing something other than the neutral tones I've used for (seriously) the last 10 years. While at the store I got my make up done by a VERY 'done up' male artist who convinced me to go purple. After I got the help with applying it I thought I looked terrifying, but Amy and Wendi assured me that it looked really good and subtle so I went on with my day. When we met up with Ryan again he didn't notice any change, which was a good thing, but when I finally told him and closed my eyes so he could see it his reaction was "eeeegggggh" which was really helpful. He just doesn't like any change though, so I don't feel too bad about it. Anyways, for some reason I suddenly want to buy make up all the time... it's weird I know. I've gone the last 26 years of my life, not caring about makeup in ANY way other than sure, I'll wear whatever Britney tells me too. But now I want to try all sorts of different things. I'm pretty sure if I tried anything too outlandish, Ryan would divorce me, so my options are limited.

While we were in St. George the dogs almost died... well, sort of.  The girls were out shopping and Ryan was at home playing xbox when I got a frantic call from Ryan saying the dogs had eaten rat poison and he was taking them to the vet. I asked him if he wanted me to come home and he said it would be nice, but I got to thinking what would be the purpose? He wanted me to come home and just wait to hear if they are going to die or not? I'd rather just stay out shopping and not think about it... Does that make me heartless? In the end the vet found absolutely NO rat poison in their stomachs after he had induced vomiting on them. Ryan said they found a bird feather in Karl along with some weird dark red bits that he couldn't identify. Later that night I walked outside and was calling Karl but he was still hiding in the bushes. He usually comes running to the door when we walk out so I searched around a bit for him and found him gnawing  on half of a bird... that explained the feather and dark read guts in his stomach from earlier. I almost vomited and he just kept running from me knowing full well that if I caught him with the bird I was taking it away. So Karl got away with eating a dead bird, which hasn't killed him yet so I think we're in the clear.

Just so you know....

Apparently the ideal job is driving a cab in Salt Lake City. At least, that's what City Cabs "live the dream" campaign would lead me to believe...

HAWAII

Ryan and I just got back from our vacation with his family yesterday. We did a lot of crap, ate a lot of crap, and spent some time at the water. The first day we went ATVing and Ziplining up in the mountains. We learned that pretty much everything man has introduced into the ecosystem there has destroyed some native animal or plant. The tour guides sounded pretty bitter about it, but it was entertaining.  I think I looked REALLY good after the ATVing so I thought I'd share....
Ryan and I made the drive to Hana, and that was probably my favorite thing that we did. It took us 8 hours round trip but it was so worth it. The rainforest side of that island is absolutely beautiful. We stopped at Hana Bay and walked over to the red sand beach, then we ate lunch at the beach fast food place (can't remember the name).  Then we drove up to the Seven Sacred Pool. We were going to go swimming but there were FAR too many people there and Ryan and I both hate a lot of people, so we just took some pictures and walked around. On the way back we stopped at the Black Sand beach which is not anything close to sand but more like pebbles. It was interesting to me that I felt closer to my mom while driving to Hana than I have in along time. She loved the beach so much and used to take me there almost everyday when we lived in California. While standing on the rocks looking out at the ocean my thoughts just kept drifting back to her. I think that's why I loved the drive so much.

We also went on a submarine one day and ate at Bubba Gumps twice (which seems to be tradition in the Jones family everytime we go to Hawaii).  All in all it was a fantastic vacation that came at a really good time. I start school again tomorrow for my very LAST semester before I graduate and I couldn't be happier about that.

Juuuuuuuuuuly

Ryan and I have tried to get a little healthier in the last couple of months so we've been hiking up Mueller Park Canyon a couple of times. This is a picture from yesterdays hike with the dogs. They actually do pretty well and can make it the whole 7 mile hike, which is exciting because they they just come home and sleep all day...

Wendi and Gale moved to Grand Junction Colorado, but before they went we had a going away party for Wendi. Melina (sp??) ate ice cream and apparently it was so good she went cross eyed.
Ryans friend, Shonn, got married and at the reception Ryan decided to play a fun game of "where's the pick" with plastic cups.  *side note, I LOVE that shirt on him*
And for the third time in my life I painted my toes.... Pink even.... it was weird. At those little bite marks are from Joan chewing my shoes. And for some reason she only likes to chew mine, not Ryans (little brat)

Well Hello! "meughhhhhhhh"

Updates, updates... What have I been up to?

Well I finished one semester of school and actually passed my classes which was actually quite treat for me. I started another semester at school, my second to last to be exact, and I'm pretty darn excited about graduating in December. A couple of my classes this semester are about marriage and families and children in middle childhood, I think the U is trying to tell me something.

Karl and Joan are still alive, and Karl just got his manhood taken away. Ryan is pretty sad about it because he had high dreams of the dogs breading together so we'd get some misfit puppies, but of course I had to destroy his dreams and get Karl clipped.

A couple of girls and work and I decided that we needed to really get disiplined and stop eating cakes and candies and everything bad for us. I knew that the only thing that could keep me away was making a bet for a large sum of money and it started on June 2nd. I've done really well and it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would. I thought I would crave Coke every day but there has been only a couple of days that I've been miserable. We get a break on the 4th of July which I'm pretty darn excited about. I'll probably gain 10 lbs. on that day alone. Oh well, it will be completely worth it.

So Ryan and I are doing well, still working, still going to school. We are going to Arizona to my families cabin for the 4th of July. My dad will be there and three of my sisters with thier kids. It's been over 4 years since I've been to the cabin and it will be Ryan's first time. Perhaps I'll take some pictures and post them when we get back, but I'm not going to promise anything.

AND for those of you that understand that title... you are welcome

Because I can?

Ryan somehow convinced me that we needed another dog because Karl needed someone to play with during the day... Joan is the result.... She is REALLY cute and cuddly, but we'll see how long that lasts...

Advise... I need it!

So Ryan has given me the go ahead to start buying furniture to decorate our new (5 month old) house. The problem now is that I don't know where to start. I'm going to start with buying new night stands for our bedroom because I literally have been using a Home Depot box since we moved in and its a cheap and easy first step...

So I have some choices to make. One I could go the really simple route and order one of these choices from Ikea,

Two, I could get unfinished furniture and stain it how I want:

This is an example from store around here, I'm not loving the feet or height of this one...

Or C I could take some initiative and find some antique or vintage store around Salt Lake to find something that I love. But who knows how costly that will be... The mind reels...

Lazy Sunday

Ryan has had the Flu since last night and so he's been out of commission all day.

I'm scared to death that I'm going to get it too, which will be REALLY bad for school and work. I don't have sick days at work and for one person to miss a day is a BIG deal because there is no one to cover. I also have not thrown up for 7 years. I really can remember the last time that I did, which I'm probably totally jinxing myself now for mentioning it. But the last time was when I had my wisdom teeth out in 2001. The dentist (my brother-in-law) gave me some Percocet for the pain and my mom bought me chocolate pudding. It didn't take me long to figure out that the mixture of Percocet and chocolate was making me sick so I OBVIOUSLY stopped taking the drugs... (we're still talking about my wisdom teeth if you are confulsed).

Anyway, this semester of school is ending on Tuesday and I'll only have 2 semesters left before I actually have my dang degree... I should be writing my paper right now but I've had a really hard time motivating myself. So instead I've been taking some really great pictures around the house and of my dog.

Photoge

For my latest photography class we learned about street photography and taking candid pictures of people without them knowing. I walked around Bountiful Main street all morning trying to get a good shot and this girl just jumped out out at me This girl just seems so out of place that I loved the picture. Her big white heels and the post office bin are out of control.

And who sees pay phones anymore?? Fantastic...

This third picture is an old wall on Main street in
Bountiful. The old brick building had been covered
by stucko and was now peeling off. I think it used
to be a welding shop but now it's just boarded up and not being used.

This last picture I just really like because of how the flash came out and how you can barely see my outline in the mirror.
